nice coat, bit heavy
Written by roxie_nycPosted on 03/28/2012 at 12:12:02 PMI just received this coat, so obviously can't test its cold weather rating. But it does fit well--I'm an XL size 14 normally in other clothing lines. It's flattering and well made. My only gripe is it is heavier than other down coats I own (LL Bean).

Written by SiobhanPosted on 04/08/2011 at 9:45:11 PMLOVE this coat. It is super warm and has nice inside pockets. It is a bit tailored so you don't look like you're wearing your comforter either.
Written by LizPosted on 03/25/2011 at 2:46:04 PMThis is a great coat. Very warm, nicely constructed and comfortable. I want to specifically mention the excellent customer service I received from BI when I needed to exchange this coat for a different size. They truly went above my expectations and they gained a lifetime customer from that.
Toasty and comfy
Written by EditrixPosted on 03/13/2011 at 2:05:37 PMAs a Canadian, I've stayed away from down coats in New York because they seemed too warm - but this one is an excellent, not-too-hot one, very good well down into the teens, but not too hot for when the temperature gets above freezing. It's nicely shaped and has really excellent pockets (two deep side slash pockets and three internal pockets, a rarity on a woman's coat). It also has some nice "technical" details: a chin guard that snaps shutand a hood that closes with two side cinches rather than tying (so that you can adjust the size once and never have to do it again). I do have ONE significant complaint (which keeps me from giving this 5 stars): the two-way zipper is only occasionally useful (I've used it once, to get a tissue out of my pants pocket), and it's quite hard to zip: the two pieces at the bottom don't mate very easily (you have to get the aligned JUST SO in three dimentions to make it work). Having two pieces there is a feature of double zippers, but it doesn't have to be that hard; this just isn't a very good zipper. I often end up struggling to close it, and I came very close to falling on my butt on an outdoor subway platform one icy January day in the process. So, BI, please find a new zipper supplier - and then keep making this coat, so can all love it like it deserves!
SOOOOOO WARM!!!!!!! AND NO BULK!
Written by ChicagoPrincessPosted on 02/04/2011 at 10:36:09 PMLet me start off by saying that I NEVER write reviews and that this is only the 2nd review I have ever written. Ever. Ladies---BUY THIS COAT!!!! I ordered this coat online and when it arrived, the box looked so small that I thought "Oh no, it's too thin and it won't keep me warm." I took it out of the box and it just looked too thin, but knowing it was filled with duck down and duck feather I gave it a try. I stepped outside and felt nothing. I took it a step further and wore it out with only a t-shirt on underneath. I FELT NOTHING! As a matter of fact, when I took the coat off not only did I feel cold, but my arms were warm to the touch---and I only had on a short sleeve t-shirt! Not to mention the felt-lined pockets are like gloves for the hands (hood is also felt-lined). Take my word, you will NOT be disappointed. BUY BUY BUY!!!

GREAT SLIM FIT!
Written by LindaPosted on 11/07/2010 at 5:54:29 PMI just received this coat in black small and find that this fits perfectly, especially for a down fill it's extremely slim looking. I normally wear a small in most coats and the small fits TTS. For reference, I'm 5'1" and the coat hits me just at the knee area. Brooklyn down coats are warm enough for the Canadian prairies and I have previously purchased the long Snug Coat a few years back, this will be my backup!!
