Women's Merchant

Position Overview:
Develop, own and execute a strategy for merchandise assortment, planning, vendor management, and retail pricing to reach sales and profitability goals.  This position is a hybrid merchandising/planning function that owns the merchandise category from purchasing through to markdown and sell through.  Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to own one’s business and work in a team environment a must.  

Position Requirements:
•    2 years buying or planning experience with a vertical retailer a plus
•    Bachelor’s degree
•    Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
•    Excellent math skills with knack for fashion and understanding customer base
•    Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Proficiency in MS Excel
•    Ability to be able to excel in a fast paced environment
•    Understanding and appreciation of the BKI brand is a must

Position Responsibilities:
Assortment Planning and Management:

•    Understand department direction and priorities, and communicate effectively to design team.
•    Develop and execute seasonal merchandise plans for the line.
•    Complete accurate forecasts evaluating financial components based on current trend, and knowledge of future events which will impact the business.
•    Place purchase orders and maintain order tracking system to ensure timely delivery of merchandise
•    Develop assortment plans.
•    Assist with weekly and monthly sales and inventory reporting
•    Manage in-season pricing to achieve financial objectives
•    Manage IMU, MMU and markdown strategies

Order Management
•    Maintain purchase orders and order logs
•    Manage international and domestic deliveries
•    Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory of core merchandise
•    Maintain vendor relationships

STORE MANAGERS

Location: Manhattan & Brooklyn, NY, Portland, OR

Responsibilities:
• Managing and motivating a team in order to ensure high levels of efficiency and to increase overall sales
• Managing all aspects of inventory control and loss prevention
• Analyzing sales figures and forecasting future sales volumes in order to maximize profits
• Interviewing potential staff; conducting appraisals and performance reviews; providing training and development
• Establishing and maintaining high standards of quality customer service
• Sustaining awareness of market trends in the retail industry; understanding forthcoming customer initiatives; examining the business and marketing strategies of local competition
• Supervising the sales floor during store hours; interacting with employees and customers; identifying and resolving urgent issues

Requirements:

• 3+ years of Retail Store Management experience
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills
• Excellent delegation skills
• Ability to motivate a team while working as part of the team

ASSISTANT STORE MANAGERS

Location: Manhattan & Brooklyn, NY, Portland, OR

Responsibilities:
• Assists the store manager with the day-to-day operations of BKI store
• Maintain standards, improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability.
• Ensures customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient.
• Maintain store appearance and product presentation to company standards.
• Provides support to sales associates during peak periods or when scheduling conflicts arise.
• Be a positive leader to all sales associates
• Attend monthly Manager conference call in absence of Store Manager
• Make recommendations for hiring, firing and promotions
• Order store supplies
• Conduct team meetings with Store Manager
• Train new employees

Qualifications:
• 1+ years of Retail Store Management experience
• Strong hands-on management skills preferably within retail
• Ability to hire, train and inspire team of sales associates
• Building team to meet sales goals and merchandising mix
• Personal sales skills, ability to sell fashion and implement high level of customer service
• Entrepreneurial spirit- contribute to overall company culture of building better systems, working towards common goals, and achieving personal results
• Honesty and integrity
• Goal-oriented, with an interest in business operations is a plus
