In 2009, Brooklyn Industries CEO Lexy Funk was named a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Funk was selected as a finalist from nearly 60 nominations by a panel of independent judges.

Green Power Pioneer

In April 2009, at a public event at Chelsea Piers, ConEdison Solutions honored Brooklyn Industries and its CEO Lexy Funk as one of New York City’s “Green Power Pioneers.” Brooklyn Industries’ commitment to clean and renewable Green Power, provided by ConEdison Solutions, demonstrates the brand’s dedication to environmental preservation. To date, approximately 3% of the United States is powered by wind energy from wind farms, with most businesses in the North East. Wind is currently the world's fastest-growing renewable energy source. On Earth Day, April 22, 2009, Brooklyn Industries was featured in The New York Times, along with Chelsea Piers and several New York City businesses, as environmental leaders powering its locations with wind.
